From the Sports Business Summit held at Chelsea Football Club, to the Annual Conference of Visitor Attractions at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, this month we’ve been lucky to be involved with a number of thought-provoking industry events that span the sports, leisure and heritage sectors.

Our teams have been busily providing food and drink for guests at these well-established forums; as well as gaining valuable insights into the trends dominating our industry. We use all of these opportunities to continue generating legendary experiences for which we are known.

For the first time this year, we were involved in the Museums Association Conference and Exhibition, which took place at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 9-10 October. Run by the Museums Association, the leading voice for the museum sector, the conference and exhibition is the largest of its kind for museums and heritage professionals in Europe. Levy Restaurants UK was proud to take part in the show as it aims to enhance the value of the industry through sharing knowledge and inspiring innovation.

October also saw The Level Summit, at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, bring together the owners and operators of entertainment venues to discuss essential business trends and, the market of show business.

Here, we hosted the reception and showround of the venue, as well as delivered a key presentation based on YouGov’s 2014 autumn survey (on behalf of Compass Group UK & Ireland): ‘How we Eat Now’, which outlined the current out of home dining trends.

Meanwhile, the annual BASIS Conference, hosted at one of our venues, Millennium Stadium, Cardiff took place on 21 October to share and develop best practice that will see sustainable initiatives integrated into sports business and communities.

As sponsors, last week we also attended the Rugby Expo 2014 at Twickenham Stadium. The event involved exploring the business of rugby clubs, with key topics including how to maximise revenues from all sources, from hospitality to sponsorship, and how rugby can engage new communities, impacting on health, education and social issues. The two-day event drew to a close with the Rugby Expo Awards, in which we’re delighted for our partners, Aviva Stadium who took home the prestigious title ‘Rugby Venue of the Year’ – congratulations to Aviva Stadium!
